Local Tree Care in Rhinebeck
Yes, GXB Precision Tree Care does tree removal, trimming and stump grinding in the Village and Town of Rhinebeck. Rhinebeck is about 17 miles, roughly 24 minutes, from Poughkeepsie. Near village roads, check the thirty-foot right-of-way rule before booking. Call (518) 960-6057 or request a free estimate before you apply.
Rhinebeck's village streets sit under a canopy the village works to keep. The village runs a Tree Commission that votes on street trees one at a time. US 9 also runs straight through the village center.
The town around it held about 7,600 people at the 2020 census and runs west to the Hudson. Rhinecliff sits on the river with its Amtrak station, and the Dutchess County Fair calls Rhinebeck home. Outside the village, estate and farm properties carry mature specimen trees.
Rhinebeck also publishes the clearest permit rule of any place we work, and it comes with an actual measurement.
Places we work in and around Rhinebeck
Rhinecliff
Rhinecliff is a river hamlet of about 380 people, a mile west of the village and across from Kingston. It is one of the oldest intact hamlets on the Hudson and part of the Hudson River historic landmark district. So old riverside lots and the rail line make access planning part of any job.

Ellerslie
Ellerslie is a location in the southwest of the town near the Hudson. It takes its name from the estate Levi Morton owned there. Estate grounds like these often hold large specimen trees, where pruning beats removal.

Württemberg
Württemberg is a hamlet in the southeast of the town, well away from the river. It sits outside the village, so the thirty-foot village rule does not reach it.
Local rules
Thirty feet from the center of the road
The village is specific: only trees within the right-of-way need permission to prune or remove. That means trees in the median or, if in your yard, within thirty feet of the center of the road.
Outside that line, it is your tree and your decision. Inside it, you apply to the Village Clerk two weeks before a Village Board meeting. The Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month. The Tree Commission inspects and recommends, and then the Board votes. The village says the whole process takes two to four weeks.
The application asks the size of the tree and the reason for removal. It also asks which certified, insured arborist will do the work. Have that answer ready before you apply.

Learn moreTree service in Rhinebeck: common questions
How do I know if my Rhinebeck tree is in the right-of-way?
Measure from the center line of the road, not the curb or your property line. Anything within thirty feet of that line counts as right-of-way and needs village permission. Trees beyond it are yours to decide on.
How long does the village permit actually take?
The village states two to four weeks. Applications go to the Village Clerk two weeks before the Board meets on the second Tuesday. So timing your application around that meeting matters more than anything else you control.
The application asks which arborist is doing the work. Why?
Because the village wants to know who will do the work, and on what credentials, before it approves anything. Have your contractor's details and insurance paperwork in hand when you fill in the form. Ask any company for that paperwork before you hire them.
Does the village rule apply in Rhinecliff?
No. Rhinecliff is a hamlet of the Town of Rhinebeck, outside the village line. The village's thirty-foot right-of-way rule covers village roads only.
